# Product CGI brief template

A practical starting brief for a product render, launch campaign or short film. Make the decisions that affect scope before production begins.

## Start with the commercial job

- [ ] Name the product, audience and launch stage. Explain the one thing a viewer should understand.
- [ ] List where the work will appear: product page, retailer listing, paid social, print or presentation.
- [ ] Separate mandatory deliverables from optional directions. A hero image and ten colour variants are different production tasks.

## Define the image list

- [ ] Give each output an ID, view, aspect ratio, pixel dimensions and intended placement.
- [ ] List every SKU, finish, label language and packaging version. State which variations share geometry.
- [ ] For motion, specify duration, orientation, loop requirements and whether sound is part of the scope.

## Prepare reliable references

- [ ] Share CAD or an existing model, dimensioned drawings, packaging artwork and photographs of key materials.
- [ ] Identify which geometry, colours, labels and legal copy are final. Mark unresolved decisions explicitly.
- [ ] Choose a few visual references and explain what matters in each: light, camera, surface, mood or composition.

## Agree approval and handoff

- [ ] Name one person who consolidates feedback and one final approver.
- [ ] Separate product-accuracy approval from lighting/composition approval and final retouching.
- [ ] State launch date, review availability, source-file expectations, confidentiality and permitted portfolio use.
